Erin Condren - 2013 Life Planner Review

Hello lovelies! Since the year is almost over, I decided to do a review of my 2013 planner for those who are looking to explore other options for the next year. Before we get started, let me just say I consider myself a techy gal, but when it comes to keeping track of things, I prefer to do so on a paper planner. I've tried using the Calendar app included on my iPhone and Macbook Pro, but it's just not for me… Maybe I'm just old-fashioned when it comes to planners.

For 2013, I purchased the Erin Condren Life Planner. I was hesitant at first because it was a lot more pricer ($50) than my other planners, but I rewarded myself with one for getting Straight A's my first semester back in school after so many years (and I've been getting Straight A's ever since. =)). Needless to say, I'm very satisfied with this planner!

Keep in mind that Erin Condren and her team always find ways to improve the planners... If you decide to purchase the 2014 Life Planner, you'll end up with something a little different, but better.

The cover is personalized and laminated! You can include your name, a quote, or whatever you want.

The planner is a little thick.

There are monthly tabs.

It starts off with a space to add Birthday and Anniversary dates.
This obviously helps me keep track of my special dates.

It also has a calendar overview.

Each month has a two-page month spread. There's also a goals & to do list on the side.
- As you can see, I use a lot of stickers and washi tape.
- The washi tape is coded for assignments, midterms, etc. pertaining to different classes.

It also comes with a snap-in page holder which makes the current week more easily accessible.

Now we'll move into the weekly calendar. The days are divided into 3 sections: morning, day, and night.
- I usually fill deadline/due dates/tests in the morning block, things I need to do in the day block, and whatever else in the night block (things I did that day that I want to remember/quotes/random stuff).
- If you're on a diet and/or want to keep track of the things you've eaten throughout the day, one of the blocks would be very useful as well. That's what I did for a couple of months.

There are also goals and to do lists on the side available on most weekly calendar pages.

An example of my weekly calendar in action.

You'll find blank line paper and blank white paper with beautiful designs for notes at the back.

You'll also find stickers!

There is also a pocket that's pretty handy for stickers.

And the very last thing is a plastic pouch pocket. Here, I store:
- some custom labels suited to my planner (extras that came with my order)
- some cute to & from labels for gifts (also extras)

PROS
- plenty of designs to choose from
- very sturdy and great quality
- monthly spread - helps me stay organized and see what my month will look like at a glance
- each day is divided into morning, day, and night
- weekly goals & to do list available in most weekly schedules
- you can use this planner for anything: journal, food tracking, exercise tracking, to dos, deadlines, whatever!

CONS
- this doesn't fit into my everyday purse, so I can't bring it on the go
- spiral gets in the way when I write on Wednesday blocks

*If you are the type of person who likes to write everything down or write long lists... this planner will suit you perfectly!

It's expensive, but I honestly consider it an investment. This planner is something I use on a daily basis to stay on top of school and keep track of things in my personal life. However, since I am graduating in a couple of weeks, I will not purchase the 2014 Life Planner. The only reason why is I no longer need something so spacious. If I ever decide to go back to school for a credential or a master's though... I will purchase one for sure!

As I mentioned before, Erin Condren and her team find ways to improve their planners every year! I highly recommend checking them out if you're looking to invest in a new planner!

Laura Mercier - Artist's Palette for Eyes

Hi there! I hope life is treating you all well!

There are so many things I want to catch up on, but I figured I'd do this post first since it's a limited edition palette. Last year, when Laura Mercier released her first Artist Palette, I overlooked it because I thought I owned way too many eyeshadows... After I changed my mind and was determined that I needed one, the palettes were all sold out!

Needless to say, when I saw this palette pop up on Youtube, I didn't need to double think it. I didn't wait for the VIB sale because I was too afraid they'd be all gone by then... And although I purchased this palette for full price when I could've gotten it during the VIB sale, I'm happy to say that it was worth every penny!
This lovely palette retails for $48 and contains 12 eyeshadows. It has a good mix of cool and warm tones.

Swatches:

These eyeshadows are finely-milled, pigmented, and soft to the touch. All the shades compliment one another in some way which is really nice. It's an extra plus that this palette is compact and travel friendly... In fact, I plan to bring this palette to my LA trip next month.

This palette is no longer available online, but I noticed that my local Sephora had a few left in stock. If you're interested, I recommend you not to hesitate and call your local Sephora to see if they have any left!

Thanks for stopping by!

Lancome Color Design Palette - Bronze Amour

These alluring palettes feature silky, lustrous, long-wearing powders that transparently wrap the skin resulting in a seamless layering of pure color and a radiant finish. Build with absolute precision and apply the shades in five simple steps (all over, lid, crease, highlighter, and liner) to design your customized eye look. Contour, sculpt, and lift with soft day colors or intensify your look with dramatic evening hues for smoky effects.

Colors include:
- All Over Base (top shade): shimmery peach
- Lid (middle left): metallic copper
- Crease (middle center): shimmery bronze
- Highlighter (middle right): shimmery yellow gold
- Liner (bottom shade): dark chocolate brown shimmer with sparkles

Swatches:
I absolutely adore this palette! The eyeshadows are soft, silky, and very pigmented. My only problem with this palette is that it consists of only shimmery and metallic finishes. Other than that, this palette offers a great range of colors for everyday wear, contains a spacious mirrors, and is very compact. There's also an issue of fallout, but tapping excess off my brushes usually fixes it.

I would only recommend this product if you wanted to treat yourself with a nice palette. However, these shades are very dupable, so I would pass if you have a large eyeshadow collection.

Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette

Hello beauties. I am so sorry for the lack of posts. School has been super hectic and I cannot wait for the semester to be over!

Anyway, after seeing Ms. Lisa's (blog) swatches of the UD Vice 2 on Instagram a while ago, I decided to stop by Sephora to test it out. The textures of these eyeshadows are unbelievable! The moment I swatched them, I knew I had to own it.

Inside the palette, you will find 20 brand new never seen before shades and a double-ended eyeshadow brush.

- Smokeout is described as a dark taupey-black satin.
 - Lovesick is described as a black matte with iridescent micro-glitter.
- Shellshock is described as a bright metallic silver.
- Prank is described as a deep navy matte with turquoise floating pearl.
- Madness is described as a bright metallic blue shimmer with blue micro-glitter.
- Strike is described as an antique gold shimmer with silver micro-glitter.

- Coax is described as a medium metallic pink with golden iridescent micro-sparkle.
- X-rated is described as a baby pink satin.
- Stash is described as a deep olive green shimmer with iridescent micro-sparkle.
- Poison is described as a charcoal satin with iridescent micro-sparkle.

- Radar is described as a metallic brown shimmer with iridescent micro-glitter.
- Damaged is described as a bright metallic emerald shimmer.
- Voodoo is described as a metallic purple shimmer with iridescent purple micro-glitter.
- Dope is described as a warm champagne satin.
- Toxic is described as a metallic copper-pink shimmer with tonal micro-glitter.
- Habit is described as a light nude matte.

- Betrayal is described as a bright purple satin with blue shift.
- Derailed is described as a medium metallic taupey-brown shimmer.
- Ambush is described as a metallic brown satin.
- Rewind is described as a medium brown matte.

These shadows blew me away! They're highly pigmented, blendable, creamy, and obviously easy to work with. Seriously, if you're into these kinds of shades, I recommend stopping by your local Sephora (or Macy's) to give them a try. Urban Decay outdid themselves once again!

Sigma Beauty: Creme De Couture Collection

Hi there! I was super excited when the Creme de Couture Collection released. The collection includes an eyeshadow palette and three blushes. They were inspired by French macarons!

The beautiful matte eyeshadow palette:
These shadows are buttery smooth & blends very nicely!

Swatches of the 1st row:
- Redberry Rose is a hot pink.
- Apricot Flower is a peach.
- Passion Fruit is a dusty rose.
- Cherry Blossom is a baby pink.

Swatches of the 2nd row:
 - Meyer Lemon is a pastel yellow.
- Ginger Pumpkin is a pumpkin orange.
- Cafe Au Lait is a warm brown.
- Blueberry Cream is a baby blue.

Swatches of the 3rd row:
- Violet Whip is a light lavender.
- Lavender Honey is a lilac.
- Cassis is a blueish purple.
- Elderberry is an eggplant.

Swatches of the 4th row:
- Blue Chocolat is a cool baby blue.
- Almond Pear is a mint green.
- Creme De Menthe is a sea green.
- Citron Pistachio is a grassy lime.

Next are the blushes... which I adore as much as the eyeshadow palette!

Swatches:
Left to right: Strawberry Ambrosia, Blackberry Essence, & Cherry Apple

- Strawberry Ambrosia is a cotton candy pink.
- Blackberry Essence is a soft lilac.
- Cherry Apple is the most wearable shade and it's a pretty apricot color.

The eyeshadow palette and blushes are nicely pigmented and have great color payoff. They're buttery smooth and super easy to blend. Some of the lighter shades can come out quite chalky, but I don't find it a problem when I use NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk underneath.

The eyeshadow palette retails for $32 and the blushes for $12 each. However, you can purchase the entire collection for $55 ($68 value) here. It's definitely a great value!

I did one look with the palette & blush (Strawberry Ambrosia) a week ago:
*The lighting really washed out the eyeshadow shades. Sorry! I need to play around with my camera a bit more.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Catch-Up Haul (Part 1 of 3): From Sephora

Hello All! I hope you're all lively and well!

I always seem to fall behind when it comes to haul posts... Anyway, these things were purchased a while ago.

Ariel Storylook Eyeshadow Palette by Sephora
This lovely palette was a gift from my husband. I was looking everywhere for it and it was always sold out even though I used the "email me when it's in stock" option. I gave up looking because I was swamped with schoolwork and work. I remember coming home after having a horrible day and found this palette sitting on my vanity. It turns out he was calling various Sephora stores everyday to check if they had them in stock.

Laura Mercier Face Illuminator - Spellbound
I kicked myself for not getting the Rose Rendezvous highlighter Laura Mercier released two years ago... so when I saw this, I thought I shouldn't take any chances and just get it. I'm glad I did though. It's a lovely highlighting shade that looks very natural without it being too obvious. Gotta love that glow!

Ole Henrickson - Gel Contour Des Yeux Lifting Optimal
I ran out of my Origins eye cream and wanted to try a new one. I've only used it for two-three weeks, so it's too soon to say anything.

Clinique - All About Lips
I'm looking for a lip product that would help relieve my lip eczema... and unfortunately, this did not do so. I use it every night and so far, I think it's just like any regular lip balm.

Benefit Real Birthday Turn Ons!
September is my birthday month, so I received the beautyinsider birthday gift on the left. It includes two deluxed-size Benefit products: They're Real! mascara & Watts Up highlighter.

VIB Rouge Welcome Kit
I'm embarrassed to say that I qualified for the Sephora VIB Rouge program when it first launched. It just shows that I need to stop shopping there, I guess. Anyway, it comes with a new shiny red membership card and a limited-edition lipstick (deluxed-sized) by Bite beauty for VIB Rouge members only.

And finally, I got a bag of goodies from a promotion Sephora did a while ago.

Thanks so much for stopping by! =)

Tarte Friends & Family Haul

Hello lovelies, I hope life is treating you all well!

I took advantage of a Friends & Family Sale Tarte had a little over a month ago. It was 30% off, so I figured it was a great way for me to complete my Amazonian Clay blush collection.

...maybe I got a little too excited?

Swatches:
  - Fearless is a warm pink.
Achiote is pretty rose shade.
Empowered is a peachy pink... although it leans a little more pink.
Adored is a cool pink with silver glitters.
Glisten is a peachy-pink with golden shimmers. It reminds me a lot of NARS Orgasm.

Swatches:
Dazzled is muted rose with shimmer.
Buff is a nude brown with shimmer.
Charisma is a shimmery warm pink.
Frisky is a pinky-red with gold glitters.

Tarte Maracuja Miracle Foundation (Light)
I got this foundation for less than $15 because it was on sale plus the 30% off. I couldn't pass up a good deal. I've used it a couple of times and so far, I really like it. I have super oily skin, so I have to touch up a lot more than usual when I use this foundation... but I love how natural it looks.

a deluxe sample of the Brazilliance Skin Rejuvenating Maracuja Self-Tanner

Tarte Glamazon Pure Performance 12-Hour Lipsticks
- Inspired is a dusty rose.
- Graceful is a beautiful warm berry.

My blush drawer is getting overflowed! The worst part is this drawer doesn't even include all of my blushes... I need some inspiration and ideas... How do you beauties store your blushes?

Thanks so much for stopping by!
