February Favorites & Empties (2014)

Hello there! I cannot believe February is practically over... It's so crazy how fast time flies! I hope you've all had a great month.

Here are my favorites:
  1. Urban Decay - Naked Basics Palette. This has been my go-to palette for everything this month. It's so easy to achieve beautiful neutral looks with this palette!
  2. Cargo - The Big Easy blush. This is a beautiful light peachy pink with a sheen. It's so natural looking, I can't seem to put it down! The only gripe I have about it is that it's not very long-lasting on me. I have a swatch of it in my Cargo haul post (link).
  1. Make Up For Ever HD Foundation. I bought this foundation for my graduation last year and have been using it ever since! It provides a light to medium coverage and applies flawlessly with a beauty blender.
  2. MAC Studio Careblend Pressed Powder. I've been using it as a setting powder. It's nothing special, but I've been shopping my stash.
  3. NYX Eyebrow Shaper. My one and only eyebrow wax. It's keeps my brows from misbehaving!
Onto the empties/tossed products:
Kirkland Daily Facial Towelettes - I've gone through so many of these already!

L'Occitane Lip Balm - It was ok... It felt like it just sat on top of my lips though. I've had better lip balms, so I don't plan to repurchase.

Eminence Stone Crop Whip Moisturizer - I've lost count of how many of these I've gone through already! This has been great for my dry flakey skin!

Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30 - There's something about this product that I can't quite put my finger on... all I can say is I notice improvements on my skin. I recommended it to my younger sister-in-law when she was having skin problems and she saw improvements too!

ELF Super Glossy glosses - These glosses have been sitting in my drawer for the longest time! They're really old, so I decided to toss them out. I don't find myself using lip glosses at all, so I won't be repurchasing [or purchasing] lip glosses anymore.

Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara - My favorite mascara! It holds my curls, separates my lashes, lasts all day, doesn't flake, and is easily removable with lukewarm water.

What are your recent favorites? Have you used up any products?

Thanks for stopping by!

NARS Pierre Hardy Boys Don't Cry Blush Comparisons

Hello beauties! As promised, here are the dupes I found in my collection similar to the Pierre Hardy blush in Boys Don't Cry!

NARS Boys Don't Cry is a matte coral-red with a golden overspray. The gold patterned overspray will eventually fade into a matte powder after one to two uses. All in all, I found three similar shades.

The closest dupes I found in my collection:

- Tarte Frisky is a little more pink.
- Milani Mai-Tai is a little more peachy.
- MAC Marine Life is a little more coral.

Do you own the NARS Boys Don't Cry blush? Have you found any dupes for it?

Thanks for stopping by!

Sephora Haul

Hey lovelies, I hope all is well! I purchased a few things from Sephora a couple of weeks ago and thought I'd share. They're beauty related, but no makeup [unfortunately].

Onto the haul...
GLAMGLOW Gift Sexy Set
This comes with a full-size of the SUPERMUD Clearing Treatment and a mini-size of the YOUTHMUD Tinglexfoliate Treatment. For the price, you would be getting the mini-size (.5 fl oz) for free. I've been wanting to try both of these products for a while, so I purchased it for the value.
 GLAMGLOW THIRSTYMUD Hydrating Treatment
Jacklyn Hill is the main reason why I purchased this product! I've used this product twice and so far, so good! It's very hydrating and gives my skin a super healthy glow! Love it!

Elizabeth and James Perfume - Nirvana White and Nirvana Black
I would be lying if I said the packaging wasn't the main reason why I decided to smell these perfume. I have no idea how to describe these fragrances, but they smell divine! I probably won't be purchasing anymore perfume until I finish a few bottles in my collection, but I'm really happy with them.

And that would be it for my Sephora haul! Thanks for stopping by!

NARS Pierre Hardy Rotonde Blush Comparisons

When I posted my haul back in June of last year about the NARS Pierre Hardy blushes, I received a few emails requesting me for a list of dupes. It took long enough, but I'm finally fulfilling this request. I apologize for the long delay!

NARS Rotonde is a beautiful matte bright orange blush with a golden overspray. The gold patterned overspray will eventually fade into a matte powder after one to two uses. I whipped out all the blushes I thought would be similar to NARS Rotonde. Some shades were way off, but I found two similar shades. Keep in mind they are not exact dupes though!

The closest dupes I found in my collection:
- NARS Taj Mahal is more orange, golden, & shimmery.
- MAC Modern Mandarin is redder.

To sum it up, I don't own anything like NARS Rotonde... I think I'll have better luck finding dupes for the other Pierre Hardy blush: Boys Don't Cry (will be posted soon).

Do you own the NARS Rotonde blush? Have you found any dupes for it?

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette (& LORAC Unzipped Palette Comparison)

When the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette first released, I was super ecstatic! A rose-hued neutral palette was something I didn't own (except for the LORAC Unzipped palette, but we'll talk about that later since they're nothing alike). However, with the amount of money I've spent on makeup products these past couple of years, I made a goal to really think before I purchase anything.

As I mentioned on my Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette review (link), my husband was super sweet and purchased this palette for me. Without further adieu...

Onto the swatches:
- Strange is a matte beige with a cream-pink undertone.
- Dust is a light rose pink with glitters.
- Burnout is a peachy-pink with a satin finish.
- Limit is a light dusty rose with a matte finish.
- Buzz is a metallic rose.
- Trick is a metallic pinky-copper.

- Nooner is a matte pinky-brown.
- Liar is a metallic pinky-mauve.
- Factory is a warm pinky-brown with a satin finish.
- Mugshot is a metallic taupe.
- Darkside is a taupe-mauve with a satin finish.
- Blackheart is a matte black with red glitter.

Out of all the Naked palettes, this is my least favorite. The texture of these shadows are as soft, pigmented, and easy to work with as the first two palettes, but for me, it all comes down to color preference. I don't reach for this palette as much as I thought would.

Now let's take a look at the UD Naked 3 Palette and LORAC Unzipped palette:

Top: Urban Decay Naked 3
Bottom: LORAC Unzipped Palette (review here)

Looking at the swatches, these two palettes are nothing alike. To me, the Unzipped palette is a rose gold palette while the Naked 3 palette is a rose-hued palette. The Naked 3 palette allows you to create a feminine and romantic look whereas the Unzipped palette allows you to create more of a dramatic look. Again, it all comes down to color preference... so if you decide to only choose one, I recommend swatching them at Sephora and looking at them side by side before making a decision!

Do you like pinky-neutral shades? Do you own or plan to pick up the Naked 3 palette?

{Review} Sephora Supreme Cleansing Oil

The Sephora Supreme Cleansing Oil is an affordable oil-type makeup remover. I purchased this in hope of replacing my Boscia Makeup-Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil since it's a bit cheaper ($18 cheaper to be exact).

What it isA gentle makeup remover suitable for all skin types. Remove every trace of even the most resistant makeup with this soap-free formula. There’s no need for cotton pads—simply pump into the hands and rub onto dry skin. Add water to change the oil into smooth lotion. Effective yet gentle, this cleansing oil is suitable for sensitive skin and leaves the face soft and perfectly cleansed, without an oily film.
- gentle
- removes all my makeup (including waterproof eyeliner & mascara)
- doesn't irritate my eyes like some makeup removers do

- takes forever to rinse off (even when I follow up with cleanser and toner)
- leaves an oily residue on the skin

All in all, this product does what it's supposed to do: removes makeup. However, the constant battle of trying to get the oily residue off my face is not worth the trouble! I would rather pay more money for less fuss than deal with all of the negatives listed.

I do not recommend this product at all!

Have you tried the Supreme Oil Cleanser from Sephora? If so, what do you think of it?

Cargo Cosmetics Haul

A few weeks ago, Lisa from Swatches and Whatnot posted on Instagram that Cargo was on sale at Hautelook. I immediately went on the website because I've always been interested in Cargo blushes. Although some of the blushes I wanted was sold out, I was still able to get some great shades!

- Catalina is a neutral pink that brightens the complexion.
- The Big Easy is a light peachy pink with a sheen.
- Cannes is a matte peachy orange.
- Rome is a peachy coral with golden shimmers. It reminds me of NARS Orgasm.
- Mendocino is a plummy-berry shade with shimmer. I will probably only use this during the fall/winter season.

Onto the swatches:

Needless to say, I'm very impressed! To be honest, I thought I was going to be disappointed when I swatched these using my fingers, but with a soft fluffy blush brush (I use the Real Techniques Blush Brush), it glides onto my cheeks effortlessly!

Do you own any Cargo blushes? If so, what do you think of them and which is your favorite shade?

Thanks for stopping by!

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette

When the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette was released a couple of months ago, I was extremely anxious to get my hands on it... I mean look at it! Gorgeous chocolate themed tin packaging, beautiful neutrals, and eyeshadows that smell exactly like chocolate... it's right up my alley! However, I couldn't justify buying another palette, so I avoided Sephora and blog posts that reviewed it.

The other week, my husband and I decided to go to the mall to purchase a Pandora bracelet for our sister. Little did I know he planned to take me to Sephora to get me the two palettes I've been lemming: this lovely palette and the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette. The man is such a sweetheart!

This palette contains 16 eyeshadows ranging from matte to frosty finishes. The names of these shades are as delicious as they smell!

Onto the swatches:
- Gilded Ganache is a dark brown with gold shimmer.
- White Chocolate is a matte pale beige.
- Milk Chocolate is a matte medium warm brown.
- Black Forest Truffle is a dark burgundy with gold sparkle.
- Triple Fudge is a matte dark chocolate brown.

- Salted Caramel is a matte orangey brown.
- Marizpan is a shimmery peachy-orange.
- Semi-sweet is a matte medium brown with a slight red undertone.
- Strawberry Bon Bon is a cool-toned baby pink.
- Candied Violet is a deep purple with violet shimmer.
- Amaretto is a copper.

- Hazelnut is a medium dark brown with gold shimmer.
- Creme Brûlée is a metallic gold.
- Haute Chocolate is a dark brown with a frosty finish.
- Cherry Cordial is a plummy brown with sparkle.
- Champagne Truffle is a bright pinky-beige with sparkle.

I absolutely adore this palette! The shadows are super soft, easy to wear, and easy to blend. There are a variety of shades available to do everyday neutral looks or even fun shades (like candid violet) to mix things up once in a while. All the shades compliment each other very well, so you'd never have to second guess yourself (as long as you mix your finishes). I highly recommend it!

Do you own the Chocolate Bar palette? What do you think of it? And those who don't own it, do you plan to purchase it?
